I’m down in Las Cruces for meetings at the Farm and Ranch Museum and the NMSU Library so I decided to stop by the Teaching Garden of the Chile Pepper Institute. As you can see, it was being irrigated when I took these two shots, so I couldn’t get into the field itself for closeups. This is the 16th year for this garden of 150 different varieties, and the theme this year is “Year of the Sweet Pepper,” in recognition of the same designation by the National Garden Bureau. The garden is on University Avenue just west of Main Street in the Fabian Garcia Science Center. It’s free to the public. For more information, click here. Below is the center of the garden.
