Above, here’s what my trumpet vine looks like during the summer. Hummingbirds pollinate these flowers with their long tongues, and soon the seed pods start forming.

During the fall, the seed pods start drying out. When they reach the stage where the pod cracks open, I harvest quite a few of them.

I drain my bird bath because expanding ice could crack it, and then I place the seeds and some of the half pods into it. I know house finches and sparrows like the seeds, but I’m wondering if the white winged doves like them.
