Central Avenue in Albuquerque between the University of New Mexico and Nob Hill has turned into Restaurant Row, and there is a common denominator on a lot of the menus: duck. Yesterday during my lunch with Wayne Scheiner at the Nob Hill Bar and Grill, I tried their duck enchiladas with mole sauce (above), and it was excellent with herbed rice and calabacitas. Further east on Central at the recently opened Matanza, I tried their Duck Tamale last week, and it was as good as the enchiladas. At Nob Hill’s Zacatecas Tacos and Tequila, also on Central, they are stuffing duck into chile pods to make Chile Relleno de Pato. Also excellent. So all of these duck dishes are everything they’re quacked up to be.
