In all my years of writing, I can’t remember reviewing a book that directly competes with one of mine and released in the same year. 101 Chiles to Try Before You Die, by David Floyd (Firefly Books) is a smaller field guide than my new The Field Guide to Peppers that I wrote with Janie Lamson. I think both books are excellent because they are interesting, useful, colorful, and make great gifts for your pepper-loving friends.
