Meet Rachael DeWitt-Cisneros, the daughter of my niece Emily and her husband, Max Cisneros. In August, she will turn 17 and be a senior at Valley High School here in Albuquerque. She is showing her volleyball jacket–she’s a middle blocker on the Valley High team. In addition to being an athlete, Rachael has serious academic credentials with a 4.1 grade point average. She also works part-time for our family company, Sunbelt Shows. She says she wants the “full college experience,” which means she will attend an out-of-town university–and she’s about ready to start the application process. I fully expect she will qualify for an athletic or academic scholarship–or maybe both. Since I don’t have any children, Rachael makes the perfect substitute, and I wish her all the best.
