No, Trader Joe’s is not restaurant, so you can’t order this dish to go. And it doesn’t come frozen, either. What Trader Joe’s has is a selection of delicious raviolis, at least five of them. The ones I’m familiar are Lobster, Cacio e Pepe (Cheese and Pepper), Porcini Mushroom and Truffle, Butternut Squash, and Goat Cheese and Sundried Tomato. The are available chilled, but they freeze well. Trader Joe’s also has a marinara sauce that rivals anything I can make at home. So, buy some of your favorite raviolis and a jar of marinara sauce. Cook the raviolis according to the instructions, and heat up some marinara sauce at the same time. Drain the raviolis, spoon a puddle of sauce on the plates, arrange the raviolis artistically on top, garnish with sprig of basil, and serve. No need to add any grated parmesan cheese on top–you will soon taste why. All of this takes about ten minutes and you have an inexpensive, restaurant-quality meal. Serve with a simple salad and garlic bread. You will have this often. Call it “Joe’s Mix and Match Ravioli Feast.”
