Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of kingfishers along the west drain that runs parallel to the Rio Grande. They make a weird chattering sound as they fly and are quite agile as they dive into the water to catch minnows, tadpoles, and crawfish. They are unusual because the female (above) is more colorful than the male.
In India, Kingfisher Lager is a favorite beer, with a 36% share of the beer market. I drank it all the time during our culinary tour, and for a lager, it’s not bad. Below is a short but excellent documentary about America’s belted kingfisher.
