New this week from bird sightings in the South Valley of Albuquerque. Above, a Bullock’s oriole, probably named Sandra. This is a shy bird that seems to want to hide in foliage. I see only one or two a year. Below, a yellow-headed blackbird. Usually I see one or two large flocks in the alfalfa field, looking for insects. This year, a single bird, seen with red-wing blackbirds, over cattails.
